Bucks House is a beautiful medieval house dating from 1510. It is Grade II listed as a building of historical importance. There are many beams, an inglenook fireplace and pine panelling. However, it has all the comforts that the discerning guest could want.

Rooms are furnished with antiques, comfortable beds, down duvets and pillows, electric blankets and bath robes. Each room has a tea/coffee tray with biscuits, fruit teas, hot chocolate and mineral water. There is an iron and ironing board in each room, together with hair dryer, heated rollers, cotton buds and cleansing pads. Bathrooms have a full range of toiletries including shaving foam, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner.

Our breakfasts are freshly cooked for each guest and consist of free range eggs, Suffolk dry cure bacon, local sausages, home made preserves, yogurts, cereals and toast. Fresh ground coffee and a variety of teas is available, together with orange juice.

We are close to many local attractions, including Finchingfield, the Suffolk wool towns of Long Melford, Clare, Lavenham and Thaxted.

There are several wedding venues locally including Spains Hall in Finchingfield, Unex Towerlands Equestrian Centre in Braintree and Leez Priory at Felsted.

High Barn, a delightful music venue is in the village of Great Bardfield and is a five minute walk from Bucks House. There are two pubs in the village, both serving good food.

Highlights
  • A perfect venue for a country weekend close to London.
