Built in 1875 and retaining much of its original character, Hillcrest House is a beautiful Victorian villa set on the southern edge of Wigtown. Wigtown is Scotland's national book town and has roughly 20 (mainly second-hand) book stores to explore.
With open views over Wigtown Bay Nature Reserve yet only a leisurely 10 minute stroll from both the harbour and the town centre, we are the perfect place to stay in this beautiful part of South-West Scotland.
We have 6 bedrooms (5 of which are en-suite), a southerly facing residents lounge and a large contemporary dining room. We make an excellent base for walking, golfing, cycling, fishing, shooting. Alternatively, you may wish just to relax and enjoying the fresh Wigtownshire air, or explore the many bookshops in town.
We offer excellent hospitality with bed and breakfast accommodation and have developed a reputation for high quality home cooked evening meals. We try wherever possible to utilise the excellent ingredients that are available locally and from the rest of Scotland.
All of our rooms have large proportions with high ceilings making them light and airy, and the layout of the rooms also make us ideal for family gatherings, intimate weddings and small corporate events.
For those coming for fishing, wildfowling etc, we offer secure storage and 2 kennels.
