Comfortable en-suite accommodation in a modern family home, with stunning views overlooking Waulkmill Bay, Kirbister Loch and Scapa Flow. Ideal base for touring as we're on a lovely scenic road between Kirkwall and Stromness, 4 miles from the South Isles ferry to Hoy.
We have 3 spacious rooms - 2 family rooms and 1 double - all with en suite, television and tea and coffee-making facilities. A cot is available on request. Our generous breakfasts are particularly enjoyed by guests, as we offer a wide choice of local produce.
Bird enthusiasts will love the location as we're nearby to the Hobbister Bird Reserve, and close to protected Viking heathland. You'll often catch glimpses of owls, curlews, hen harriers, kestrel, oyster catchers, pheasants and grouse. Close by is the Orkneyinga Saga Centre, telling the fascinating story of Orkney's Viking past - it's next to the remains of the Earl's Bu Viking mansion and the St Nicholas Round Kirk - the only round kirk in Scotland. It's worth noting that the Neolithic burial chamber of Maeshowe is only 6 miles away.
At Foinhaven children are welcome, and we're situated on a working farm (a quarter of a mile off the main road), so there's always plenty to see! Free fishing is available at Kirbister Loch, a short walk from the house, and it's an excellent loch to start fishing on. Waulkmill Bay is only about 10 minutes walk away and was recently voted Orkney's Best Beach.
Above all, it's the welcome you get at Foinhaven that we hope makes your Orkney visit so special.
