Greystones is a comfortable family home. Originally the local blacksmith's cottage back in the early 19th century with its forge and stables in the adjacent stone outbuildings. During the last 200 years the original cottage has been extended, first on the east side (our kitchen with two small bedrooms above) and then 'gentrified' in the Edwardian period on the west side (our large sitting room with bay windows and a rather splendid spacious bedroom above for our guests).
We have a large attractive garden with some lovely trees, a rather bumpy croquet lawn (it must have been a grass tennis court 50 years ago) and a much more recently built hard tennis court.
We hope you will come and stay and of course you are very welcome to enjoy the garden, play tennis or a challenging game of croquet, snooze in a hammock or swing on a swing - weather permitting!
Somerset and our close neighbour Dorset to the south are beautiful rural counties with some splendid and different historic towns - Bath of course but also Bristol, Wells, Dorchester and others are well worth visiting.
Greystones is very much central to this lovely area and we hope that you will come and stay and conquer!
If you come and stay, and of course we hope you do, you will find that Greystones has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. So enjoy your lovely large bedroom with a good book, a pot of tea and a slice of home made cake.
Breakfast
We serve the best local produce we can find: fruit juice, porridge or choose from a selection of cereals. Then a full English breakfast cooked on our old Aga if you wish. Try our homemade marmalade and local honey on excellent local bread (or homemade bread when available). Kenya tea or Kenya coffee, hardly local but Fair Trade and family reasons too.
