Lower House is a fine Georgian town house situated in the very centre of the small town of Callington in East Cornwall.
The town is situated in the Tamar Valley, recently designated as an area of outstanding beauty, with a range of walks for everyone. Close to Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor as well as the south coast, this part of the county has much to offer at all times of the year. There are numerous gardens and National Trust properties to visit, with the St Mellion golf club just 3 miles away. There are also some excellent restaurants close by.
We offer comfortable accommodation in four rooms, all en suite, two are spacious family rooms, one a double that can also be a twin room and one a single. All rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard and have original art works on the walls. All our bed quilts are made especially for us in Vietnam in workshops for the disabled. They are fair trade products. All rooms have radiators with individual thermostats, colour TV and a selection of teas and coffee.
"Untitled" is our largest family room at the front of the house with a large Georgian window.
The room has both a king sized and single bed and is everyone's favourite. The en suite is a good sized bathroom with shower and w.c. There is also an additional hand basin in the room.
"Work in progress" is our other family room also at the front of the house with a large Georgian window. The room also has a king sized and single bed and a brand new en suite shower room and w.c.
"Opus 3b" is our double room overlooking our pretty castellated stone walled garden. The room has twin divan beds but can be set up as a large king sized bed. This room also has a brand new en suite shower room and w.c.
"Composition in blue" is our fourth room also at the front of the house. The room is set up as single room with its own en suite.
We are pleased to offer a smoke-free environment in all our rooms.
We also use the house and its attached coach house as a residential art school.
Meals can be taken in our dining room at the front of the house except in the summer when we frequently BBQ in the garden. Breakfast is made from local produce as far as is possible and made to your order from the simple to the gargantuan. We don't want you to go away hungry. You can chose between a large selection of cereals, fruit and yogurt, homemade bread and jams, but I recommend Peter's cooked breakfasts. We can also offer an evening meal if required which can be pre-ordered.
We are pleased to discuss discounted rates for groups, families or for longer stays.
We look forward to welcoming you to our home.
