We welcome walkers and cyclists and can provide tailor made services such as packed lunches, drying boots and clothing and locked storage for bikes.
By prior arrangement we can provide a pick-up-drop-off service, from main line railway and bus stations at nearby ,or Carlisle and also to and from local restaurants and hostelries.

We are approximately 7 miles from Penrith where the A66 meets the M6 and are therefore within easy reach of the Lake District National Park. We are also within easy reach of Carlisle city centre.

Directions to Smithy Cottage
From junction 41 of the M6 motorway take the B5305 signposted to Wigton. Follow the road past Hutton-in-the Forest country house; after a sharp right hand bend in the road you will see Upfront Gallery on the left hand side soon followed by a sign post to New Rent. Smithy Cottage is on the left hand side approximately 50 metres after this sign post.
